I am honestly having trouble coming up with stuff to write about here on the blog, but that’s because I’ve been busy writing other things, other places. So I thought I’d just put up a quick catch-you-up post in case you want to know. This probably should be a newsletter, but I have a love-hate relationship with MailChimp, so I’m doing this instead. 😉
If you haven’t seen the links, I’m doing a series on trauma and attachment over on Beauty After Bruises‘ blog. Part 1 which is a general overview of attachment theory, can be found here. Part 2, which talks about the effect of trauma on those with different attachment styles, can be found here. Later this week or next week I’ll wrap up the series with some information on what helps when you’ve grown up with an insecure attachment style, and what doesn’t. If you don’t follow me on Facebook I’d like to invite you to look me up over there. 🙂 I don’t post a ton of stuff all day, every day, but I do share links to blog posts both here at my home base and when I guest post in other places.
Speaking of, I have decided to get rid of my Journey With J8 blog offshoot. The yearly maintenance/hosting fees are coming due and I just don’t use it enough to justify paying for it for another year. When I envisioned having a Christian offshoot, I thought I’d have a lot more to say about the spiritual stuff involved with SRA, DID, etc. But once I actually got around to setting it up, I went into a different phase of healing. I don’t really feel like I have the authority to try to talk about spiritual stuff right now. I’m still processing a lot of things from the past year and I’ve been questioning quite a lot of long-held beliefs. So I don’t feel like I can or should share about that aspect of my recovery right now. If you want to go read what I did post, the blog should stay up until the end of next month. Then it will expire. If at some point I feel like I can write about those topics again, I’ll choose a free WP domain at that time. Then the cost won’t be a factor.
Finally, some of you might know that I’ve begun working on a novel. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year in the making at this point, albeit with a long pause in the middle while I grappled with some personal stuff and then literally went through a transition from working outside the home, to moving, to staying home. I’m back at it, and the plot has changed a bit, but I still really like it and am excited about it. It’s slow going, as I am interrupted frequently in day to day life and that makes it difficult to focus. But I am still working on it and we’ll just hope that slow and steady wins the race. We need more pieces of art / entertainment out in the world that shows someone with DID as the protagonist (for the love), so that’s what this novel is. Please send me all your good thoughts/ vibes /prayers that I can have clarity when working out all the plot points, structuring the book, and getting the writing done for the first draft. I’m planning to see if I can attract the interest of an agent and get a publisher on board for this one. If you have any contacts in that area who might be willing, send them my way!
That’s what I’ve been up to lately. Fall is coming, and that’s often a time of great struggle for those with SRA in their background. But I am hopeful that every year will keep getting better. Cheers.
